First Steps

Hello, Bonjour, Hola, Hallo. Welcome to the first proper blog post on my brand-new website.

So let me introduce myself, My name is Glenn. Glenn Dives, as it says on the header. I'm originally from the South of England, near to London, and there's no easy way to say this but I'm a writer. A struggling one maybe, though not yet a starving one.

This post introduces me to the world as a writer. Wow! Just saying that out loud brings a smile to my face. Anyway, back to business.

I am a writer and this is my website, to promote me, and my work.

Later in this post, I'll detail more about my work, but for now, I'm going to provide a little background on myself.

I'm from the South of England. I had a normal upbringing in a normal family. I went to University and eventually found the sort of work I liked. I worked in corporate communications, marketing, and lobbying. In between deadlines and meetings, I managed to maintain a one-three book-a-week habit. It was perhaps the only sign I was a bit strange, but God, it was great. There is nothing quite like a good book. I read everything from history to true crime, but something was missing.

The work was interesting, but not always fulfilling and I increasingly took the opportunity to travel. To widen my experience beyond books and close friends, thinking One of those adventures changed my life completely.

I was visiting Houston, Texas, and it was there that I met a lovely young lady. We connected and fell in love. Despite a few years of long-distance dating, and navigating the US immigration system, that love did not waver. Finally, I was granted a visa to enter the USA to marry her. With that, an exciting new chapter of my life began, in the 100-degree heat and swampy humidity of Houston, Texas, with her, my wonderful wife, Lynna.

In meeting her and then with the move, I've been able to explore different aspects of myself. One of which was my dream of being a writer. I’ve always told myself stories to pass the time, to vent my feelings, and simply for my enjoyment. With the encouragement of my wife, I've begun to put one of those stories down on paper and become a writer.

That's where I am now. Deep into writing my first novel, a psychological thriller, titled Midnight Musings. It's about Bill Hunter a young man, who while visiting his girlfriends hometown, gets sucked into uncovering the details surrounding the death of a young woman.

I’m hopeful of getting it published this year. In the meantime, you can read more about Midnight Musing, on the other pages of my website and maybe there'll be some sneak peeks in the coming weeks on this blog.

Anyway, that's enough for now. I'm hopeful of communicating on here regularly, both about the progress of my book, as well as other aspects of my life and adventures.
